Our hut is "Renezvous Hut" and has sleeping pads, stove, dining table, cooking supplies, drinking water, firewood, games, and an outhouse.  Our gear will be hauled up and brought down by snowmobile service from Cub Creek Trailhead so we will not have to ski with a heavy load.

The daily ski plan will be adjusted according to the group's daily condition, but due to the fixed destination everyone must be able to ski 10 miles in a day with an elevation gain of 1,400 feet with some unavoidable black trail.  The routes are predominantly blue trail with very little green or black.

Friday:

From Cub Creek Trailhead to Heifer Hut (8km/1400' gain) for lunch, then on to Rendezvous Hut (9km/500' gain) where we spend the night.  If conditions are bad or the weather is unfriendly the lighter option will be to ski from Cub Creek TH directly to Rendezvous Hit and hunker down (10km/1400' gain).

Saturday:

From Rendezvous Hut to Cassal Hut (7km/400' gain) for lunch, then from Cassal Hut to Grizzly Hut and then on to Rendezvous Hut (8km/600' gain)  where we spend the night. If conditions warrant and their is a group desire, a more demanding option will be to do Lower Rendezvous Basin and Sick Joke Hill and back (18km/1400' gain).

Sunday:

From Rendezvous Hut to Gardner Hut (1.6km/40' gain), then down Cougar Mountain Loop and Little Cub Creek to Cub Creek Trailhead (12km/-3900' loss), almost entirely downhill. My favorite trail in WA. Very important to bring a windbreaker, face mask, and thick gloves.

NoteS:

  • If you were on my trip to Rendezvous last year then feel free to sign up. If not, send me an email to obtain leader permission prior to signing up.
  • The new Cub Creek Trailhead cuts off about 1/2 mile and has an outhouse and tons of parking.
  • Carpooling up to Methow is encouraged but not required.
  • The cost for the Hut and gear shuttle service is to be shared and will be $79.60 per night per person.
  • The hut can accommodate 8-10 people but I prefer to have more sleeping space so we will have a small group.
  • The views from the huts are spectacular if there is clear visibility. No guarantee.

The hut reservation is for 2/27 and 2/28. Participants will be required to drive up on Thursday 2/26. We will meet in Winthrop in the evening on 2/26 to go over final logistics. There is a supermarket in Winthrop to buy food and ski shops to buy last minute gear.

Meeting time and place TBD.
