  • Mileage: 8.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,300 ft
  • Pace: 1.5 - 2.0 mph

10:30am at the Artists Point Parking Lot with gear ready to go -

We'll enjoy an easygoing mosey pace along a gorgeous 4 mile traverse (1300 ft of gain) to our campsite on a ridge near Goat Lake. We have the option of adding on an extra 5 miles and 1600ft of elevation gain (round trip) up to the Portals for a spectacular close up view of Mount Baker if the group is interested.

While there are pit toilets at Artist's Point and the Austin Lakes Picnic Area, Mount Baker requires the use of Blue Bags for disposal of human waste in the backcountry, so please be prepared with a personal wag bag.

Either a NW Forest Pass or an America the Beautiful pass is required to park at the trailhead.

I'll send out an email with additional information about a week before the trip.
