We will be hiking along the Ingalls Creek Trail (#1215). Recent trip reports indicate that the trail is in good condition. There are numerous camp sites along the creek, so we will not be under pressure to make any specific distance. Ingalls Creek is known for wildflowers, I expect that the spring show will be mostly past, but hope to hit the early summer flowers. I plan to keep to a "social" pace, and to take advantage of opportunities for "botanizing". Since we will be on the east side of the mountains, we will need to be aware of ticks and rattlesnakes. I also expect that mosquitoes and their allies will be ramping up for summer. There have also been reports of equipment being chewed by aggressive rodents in camp (the “snafflehounds” of the Stuart Range are world-renowned among climbers). This trip will be dog-friendly, I will be bringing my 8 year old Springer Spaniel. If you would like to bring a dog, please let me know.
We will meet at the Ingalls Creek Trailhead at 9:00 AM on Wednesday June 16th. To get to the trailhead: drive Highway 97 for 12.5 miles north of Blewett Pass, or 7 miles south of the junction with Highway 2. Turn west onto Ingalls Creek Road (FR 7312). The trailhead is at the end of Ingalls Creek Road, about a mile from Highway 97. You will need a Northwest Forest Pass to park at the trailhead.
