Backcountry Trail Run - Granite Mountain Trail

Granite Mountain Marathon, a summit and lap of Granite Mountain. A long run with a little bit of vert, a good day out for people training for a fall ultra.

  • Very Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 25.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 7,200 ft
  • Pace: 15 min / mile

Meet at TH ready to go for 7am.

Carpools can be arranged a few days before the run.

Exact details to be confirmed in by email a few days before the run.

We will hike to the lookout on top of Granite, run down, and then do a counter clockwise loop of Granite Mountain with stops at Melawaka, Lower Tuscohatchie, and Pratt lakes. A quick swim break might be an option depending on the weather.

We will mostly power hike anything that's uphill, and run everything else. The goal is to have a good day out, not to set any speed records. That said, you have to be fit in order to do this.

When asking for permission to signup please keep the 25 miles, and over 7k of gain in mind. This should not be your first run in the mountains.
