First time visit to the mountain village called Holden - magical snowy place tucked up inside the north Cascades. Plan is to ski 5-6 days determined based on weather, group decision, and location. Holden Village includes 3 meals daily and lodging so plan would likely be decided per day and return each night to a warm bed. Overall tour difficulty usually within M2 but within group safety margins and avalanche risk might choose higher elevation and maybe M3 terrain. Preference given to fun, safe, enjoyable daylight only touring. Area is not patrolled nor forecasted much so we will be self sufficient. Safety first is my mantra.
Schedule:
2/7 - leave Seattle area and drive to Chelan for evening motel. (Nice motel leader has stayed at before with hot tub and friendly staff)
2/8 - breakfast and morning Lake Chelan ferry up to Lucerne. Arrive and check-in and possible short ski tour.
2/9-2/13 - plenty of time to tour the whole valley along with optional snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, and bc touring. Evening events organized by Holden staff or relax at the dry sauna or strike up conversations with other guests. Holden has a large capacity so there’ll likely be plenty of camaraderie.
2/13 - early breakfast and tour or relax. In afternoon take down-lake ferry, pickup cars, and drive back late home
Cost:
Leader (Evan) has already pre paid all costs for hotel, ferry, and Holden Village board up to 10 people. Per person $644 (reimburse Evan) which includes 5 nights at Holden Village. Costs do NOT include helping with carpool gas, 2/7 dinner in Lake Chelan, 2/8 breakfast, and souvenirs or gifts for purchase at Holden Vilage. We will likely be stopping for dinner en route home on 2/13.
Meeting/carpooling TBD amongst participants.
