Silver Peak is on the south side of I-90 at exit 47 across the freeway from Granite Mountain. This trip will be moderately paced and is a good choice for all scramble students that were comfortable at the snow field trip and have been hiking regularly.
The route we will follow is to hike up the Lake Annette Trail to about 3200 feet. At that point we leave the trail and ascend cross country ENE up to the flattish area at the center of the map at this link: http://caltopo.com/map.html#ll=47.37135,-121.462&z=15&b=t&a=c We then turn south an ascend the basin to just before the summit, the scramble west on to the ridge and make the final push to the summit.
On the way down, we will glissade west from the north ridge near the summit to just north of Annette Lake, then follow the trail back to the cars.
Please bring both a overview map of the whole route starting from the cars, as well as a zoomed-in map of the route above 3200'. You can generate PDFs from Cal Topo, (see above link). Use the "Print" menu, the adjust the red box to define the area you want to print.
Along the way we will practice navigation and safe snow travel skills. Please bring an extra pair of gloves.
I will send out email to the whole group a day or two before the trip.
Meet at the Issaquah Transit Center parking garage NE corner at 6:30 AM
