Trip
Alpine Scramble - Observation Rock
A different kind of Observation Rock scramble. We’ll be limiting the party to folks qualified to go on a Basic Glacier Climb, then evaluating conditions as we go to see if we can reach a bump up towards ~10000’ (in addition to summiting Observation Rock). Might just stay on the ridge, might venture out on the Russell Glacier, all will depend on the conditions. Think of this as a trip to Camp Muir, only on the NW aspect of Rainier. I’ll be looking for attendees with recent trips having at least 5000’ of elevation gain (like this one), so please describe your recent trips when requesting permission. The nominal plan will be an early start from Mowich Lake, catch a gander of Spray Falls on our way up (probably too tired at the end of the day), tag Observation Rock on our way up, then see what happens.
Arranged via email.
