  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 10.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,800 ft

This is a traverse of Mt Pilchuck involving two parties. We will meet the other party (led by Andy Cahn) at the Verlot Ranger Station and exchange cars. We will drive their cars to the Bear Creek trailhead on the east side of the mountain and then hike the trail past Bear Lake to Pinnacle Lake. We then scramble up to the Bathtub Lakes Basin, cross the basin and head west to the lookout at the summit. We descend via the popular trail to the Mt Pilchuck trailhead on the west side of the mountains. Meanwhile, Andy's group will drive our cars to the Mt Pilchuck trailhead and do our trip in reverse. We will meet midway and exchange keys. The Bathtub Lakes Basin is gorgeous, especially when the leaves of the copious blueberry bushes have turned red for autumn.

Verlot Ranger Station at 8:00 am.
