Alpine Scramble - Mount Angeles

Trip

Alpine Scramble - Mount Angeles

Chill scramble, hopefully in the height of wildflower season. Kitsap 2022 and 2023 scramble students have priority until July 8. If you're from another branch, please do not request permission until July 8.

  • Strenuous 2, Technical 2
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 6.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,924 ft
  • Pace: 1000ft/hr

Port Angeles Wilderness Information Center 9am for carpooling to Hurricane Ridge.

This scramble is a beautiful jaunt through lupine and other alpine wildflowers in season, so hopefully we've timed it right. We'll get on the trail from Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center  by 10am, descend a bit and then approach Mt. Angeles from the south through a beautiful meadow. The scramble is a mix of steep scree and rock, but is not technically difficult. Potential for scrambling to other subpeaks of Mt. Angeles, or just enjoying time at the summit. If people want to stay out 'til sunset, we can split carpools and some can hike to Hurricane Hill afterward.

That said, please do not promise loved ones an early return. You never know when something unexpected could occur.

This is listed as a family activity only because we have a family in the Kitsap scramble class. Otherwise, this activity is for adults.
