Alpine Scramble - Burnt Park Loop

A beautiful (and very strenuous) fall loop visiting Burnt Park (Pt 6327), Palisades, Marcus, and Pt 6218 (on the ridge NW of Marcus). An exploratory loop of ~5300’ gain, 12 miles (5 miles off trail) which avoids the need for Sunrise access. Only for folks that are fully vaccinated against COVID.

Huckleberry Creek trailhead at 7am (elevation 2875’).

Requests for Leader Permission are welcome the Thursday before signup opens.

An exploratory scramble, only suitable for very experienced scramblers that have done recent similar trips.  The core of the off trail portion is shown on this map:

… and the ‘crux’ (the part we haven’t done yet, although it looks reasonable) is the WNW ridge/aspect of The Palisades:
