Get a good start on a lifetime of safe, successful days in our amazing PNW trails with this FREE two-hour, information-packed evening seminar to help you find hikes, choose gear, hike safely and be a good trail citizen. Open to the public!

  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)

6:30-9PM at the King County Library Service Center, 960 Newport Way Northwest, Issaquah, WA 98027

FREE seminar, designed for brand new hikers, and for people who have hiked before but want an introduction to safe hiking in our major Pacific Northwest hiking areas.  The agenda will cover major hiking regions and trails, common trail hazards, good preparation, gear and clothing, Leave-No-Trace practices for protecting our trails and wild places, and trail etiquette as well as useful information on permits and other useful resources.   Volunteers will be in attendance to demonstrate a range of their favorite gear options for various seasons on the trail.

At the seminar we will also help you learn how to find and join Mountaineers and other group hikes and skills classes.

You don't need to be a Mountaineers member to attend, but you can join as a guest which will allow me to send you some useful info before the class.   You can join for free and check us out on two seminars, events or activities before deciding if you want to become a full member - go to www.mountaineers.org/membership/join-the-mountaineers to find out more!
