Meet at 10:00 AM Saturday at the entrance to the Johnston Observatory, reached from the north by taking Exit 63 from I-5 eastbound onto SR 505 through Toledo to the T junction with SR 504, where you turn left and continue to the end of the road at the Johnston Observatory parking lot.

This hike is part of a two day car camp at Seaquest State Park.  Saturday we hike to Harry's Ridge and Sunday South Coldwater Ridge Loop trail, camping Saturday night at Seaquest State Park.  Anyone registering for the hike must also register for the Sunday hike to South Coldwater Ridge and camp Saturday night at Seaquest State Park.  Leader's permission is required to assure that everyone does that.  Prepaid campsite fees will be shared equally.

For Saturday's hike we will drive to Johnston Observatory, where one Northwest Forest Pass or one National Park Pass for every four hikers must be shown at the entrance door to obtain required wrist bands for all the hikers.  No parking pass need be displayed at the cars.  We will hike directly from Johnston Observatory to Harry's Ridge, our lunch stop, where we have a spectacular view of Mt. St. Helens, weather permitting.  Then we return by the same route.  After leaving our hiking gear in our cars, we will walk back to Johnston Observatory to explore the exhibits, ranger talks and films shown there.  then we'll drive back to Seaquest State Park, have a camp dinner, smores around the campfire and then retire for the night.  See the Mt. St. Helens Car Camp listing on the Tacoma Branch calendar for complete information about the car camp.
