Hobuck campground,  ready to paddle at 9 AM.

Everyone that signs up for this paddle or clinic needs to ALSO sign up for the June 10 - 14 Sea Kayak -- Hobuck (ie, Surf Zone and Beyond) activity so we have a head count of everyone who's coming (even if you are just coming for part of it) and everyone must bring their ID and proof of vaccination to be admitted to the Makah Reservation."

A one day clinic devoted to introducing students to paddling safely in the surf zone. This will not be about surfing, instead you'll learn how to read the zone, launch, land, and traverse the surf zone safely in a loaded boat. The surf zone is an extremely dynamic environment.  Students should be prepared for capsizes and swimming. The clinic will be presented as "challenge by choice", meaning students may elect to do, or not do, any of the presented material.  Declining to perform some steps may cause the instructors to drop a participant for safety reasons.

If the conditions are too flat we will cancel the clinic and convert the clinic to a day paddle along the coast.

There is a Makah yearly recreational permit required to use the beach.

I will increase participant numbers as assistant leaders become available.

Participants should have taken an Eddy's and Currents clinic prior to this clinic.

Highly recommend that participants take a Strokes and Maneuvers clinic prior to this clinic.

Participants should have a powerful forward stroke, reverse stroke, standard draw stroke, forward and reverse sweep strokes while edging, and a good low brace.
