Seattle Explorers & Jr. MAC Kick-Off Trip - Leavenworth

The Leavenworth Kick-Off trip is the first trip of the year for Explorers & Jr. MAC where prospective members can try out rock climbing, meet current members, and see if Explorers or Jr. MAC is a good fit for them. This trip is free and open to the interested public.

  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)

Mandatory pre-trip meeting:

Expect to leave town Friday evening and return in the evening on Sunday night.

Trip Sheet: Please review the trip sheet. It has important information and links to camping and activity pods master spreadsheet.

Guests: If spots are still available one week prior to the trip, email Katy to request that a friend or sibling be able to join.

Registration: Since this trip is open to non-members, register directly here on this page. For all other Explorers and Jr. MAC trips registration, use the Explorers and Jr. MAC course page.

Every year, Explorers & Jr. MAC hosts a Kick-Off Trip which serves as a try-out for prospective new members and a chance for all returning members to get reacquainted with one another over a weekend of rock climbing and hiking. We will have a couple groups each day going out to various crags and hikes, camping  in Leavenworth at Eightmile Campground with a communal meal, all led by adult chaperones/Mountaineers staff and volunteers.

This trip is community focused and should give anyone new to Explorers & Jr. MAC a good idea of what our culture is like. Interested members need not pay/commit to the club before attending this trip, and will be invited to make their decision to join or not after this trip.

If you'd like to borrow non-climbing gear, please submit your request to the gear library.
