** Update for Summer/Fall 2020 **

If you're planning to run course-related programming in Leavenworth this summer or fall, please contact staff at info@mountaineers.org to let us know before scheduling your field trip. With the suspension of this year’s rock lottery due to COVID-19, we’ll need to confirm with the Wenatchee River Ranger District that The Mountaineers is approved for those user days, regardless of if you’ve already submitted the trip or if you’re adding a new one. Please contact staff with at least two-weeks lead time.

All our fee-based course field trips and seminars on U.S. Forest Service Land must have been scheduled through the lottery process for User Days as allocated as part of our use permit. Review our User Day Allocations. Here is a direct link to the results of the 2019 USFS Rock Lottery results for Leavenworth - the course-related trips listed in this document have priority for 2019 scheduling. Leaders should be prepared to show our permit to any rangers who ask. Leaders should also read and become familiar with the district's Outfitter's Pocket Guide

Here is a direct link to the results of the 2020 Internal Climbing and Scrambling Lottery for the Leavenworth Area. The course-related trips listed in this document have priority for 2020 scheduling, but the user days associated with trips in USFS-managed areas (Icicle, Castle Rock), are not final until we receive our user day allocations from the USFS in late March 2020.

Mountaineers activities on U.S. Forest Service land near Leavenworth must meet the Forest Service group size standards. Rock climbing groups in the Icicle Canyon or Castle Rock should not exceed 15 (students and instructors) at any one crag. Please limit total group size on private land to 15 as well.

Leaders, please identify the climbing area you plan to use for your trip in the summary section of your activity to ensure we don't have more than one group at the same area.

Please use the Sam Hill (Leavenworth route/place if you plan to conduct your activity there. No Forest Service Permit needed, but we must file an application.

GROUP CAMP SITES

We were able to reserve one group camp site for a handful of weekends from May 8, 2020 to June 26, 2020. Please check the self-serve Leavenworth Group Site Form for availability and to indicate how many campers will be attending our activity. If your activity is the first to fill out the form for a specific weekend date, please consider helping other groups get group confirmation info. For confirmation and other info, please contact chada@mountaineers.org for site info.
