Beginner Snowshoe - Sun Mountain Trails

We will snowshoe on the trails with beautiful views from Sun Mountain. Sunday will be the opposite direction (clock-wise) to Saturday’s trip with different and spectacular views as well. This is part of the Winter Trails Month and a weekend of winter activities in the Methow Valley sponsored by The Mountaineers.

We will meet at 9:45 am in the lobby at Sun Mountain Lodge. The trip will begin at 10:00 am. Further trip details will be emailed to participants as soon as registration closes.

Part of the Winter Trails Month Methow Weekend.  We will be on trails each having a variety of beautiful views along the 4.6 km route. After leaving Sun Mountain Lodge, we join the Horse Trail following it to meet the View Ridge Trail and descend downhill to Homestead, just beyond where the View Ridge and Kraule Trails meet. At Homestead, we will stop for a lunch break with access to outdoor toilets. Returning to the trail, we begin an uphill ascent on Kraule, finishing with a short walk to Sun Mountain Lodge.

Participants will be responsible for purchasing a $5 trail pass. Snowshoe rentals are available at Sun Mountain Lodge Activity Center or in Winthrop the day before.

Weather can change quickly on the mountain. Be ready with your 10 essentials and for cold weather this time of year in the Methow.
