Basic Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing for the absolute beginner, or those wanting a review, covers gear, conditioning, safety and more. This is the classroom portion of the course. No prerequisites.

The Basic Snowshoe course is an introduction to snowshoeing covering everything needed to become a proficient and safe snowshoer on easy and easy+ trips. To graduate a participant needs to complete a classroom session, one skills learning field trip, one Mountaineers easy or easy+ snowshoe trip of the student's choosing, and complete one conservation activity.

The course is very laid back and our mantra is " Safety first, have  fun, destinations are optional." More advanced snowshoeing is available to those who have already completed this course. (See Backcountry Snowshoeing)
