Come to the Tacoma Program Center to meet author and illustrator Molly Hashimoto, who will talk with us about Wildflowers of the West: An Artist's Guide, published in August by Mountaineers Books.

Molly accompanies each piece of visual art with natural history and stories of her own outings to find flowers. She works in various media, creating pen and ink sketches, detailed watercolors, and layered block prints. She'll talk with us about how she locates flora and paints images of golden columbines emerging from talus slopes, meadows of sky-blue lupine, blooms of glacier lilies that herald the approach of spring.

She'll bring copies of her book to sign and share, at an event timed for the holidays.
