Organized by the Seattle Kayaking Committee, (PDW) is a gem of the organization's training events. Kayakers come together at beautiful Deception Pass State Park for two days of clinics designed to advance paddling skills in a variety of conditions and build a community of experienced paddlers.

A full weekend of on-the-water paddler development workshops led by experienced instructors.
On this annual weekend of instruction and socializing you will self assess and choose two on water clinics designed to challenge and improve your paddling skills in and around dynamic conditions. Choices will include for example strokes, navigation, maneuvering in tidal currents, practicing rescue techniques. The controlled environment with experienced instructors provides a safe learning environment. However, you will want to come with some paddling experience to get the most out of the weekend.
To guarantee your space, please register for the event as soon as you can. You will be contacted by Jeannie Nahan mid to late August to sign up for one course on Saturday and one course on Sunday.
The weekend will be based at Cornet Bay Retreat Center (formerly known as the Environmental Learning Center) at Deception Pass State Park. Included with the registration fee, is lodging in rustic cabins, full Saturday evening dinner and full breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday mornings. There will be an informal bring your own dinner and drink Friday evening.
