Introduction to Backcountry Ski/Snowboard Mini-series

The Introduction to Backcountry Ski/Snowboard Mini-series offers 3 different backcountry skiing opportunities at Mt. Rainier National Park and Crystal Mountain backcountry.  Each outing will gradually increase in difficulty and distance while still being within your ski abilities.

While some backcountry ski experience is required, there will be opportunities for you to find ski lines that are within your ability.  To get the most out of this course, it is recommended that you are comfortable skiing "blue/intermediate" level runs at a ski resort before signing up.  Our goal is for you to improve your backcountry ski abilities by:

Getting more ski turns in the backcountry!

Familiarizing yourself with your own ski equipment out in the field.

Learning and sharing with others to improve your skill set & review equipment.

Improving your physical stamina.

Please commit only if you can attend the dates listed.  In addition, dates and locations are subject to change based on weather and conditions.  Please be prepared to have flexibility with your schedule.

Note, badge is earned upon completion of all field trips and attaining AIARE 1 course certification.
