Seattle Conditioning Hiking Series Lottery

Since the Seattle CHS Course fills up every year (and used to crash the Mountaineers website in the process), we have switched over to a lottery system for registering for the Course.  This approach was very successful last year, with over 200 entries for the 120 available spots in the course.

By registering for this lottery "course", you are entering your name into a drawing, to "win" an opportunity to register for CHS.  You may only enter the lottery once. All entries (registrations) received before the  close on February 2nd at 5pm will be entered in the drawing.  

Notifications will be sent to winners the weekend of Feb 4th.

Please note that the  date that you register  will not affect your chances.

Both members and guests are eligible to enter.  Please be aware that if you are selected you will need to be a current member of the Mountaineers in order to register for the CHS Course (this can only happen after you have been notified you "won" and have been offered a spot).

If you choose to enter the lottery, please mark your calendar and hold-the-date for the  mandatory (no exceptions!) CHS Orientation on Sunday, March 10th from  8:30am to 3:30pm.

How the Lottery Process Works:

After this lottery/course closes on February 2nd, we will run a computerized, weighted drawing (giving preference to people who have never participated in CHS).  We will then  "offer " spots in the course to the first 120 "winners".  If you have been offered a spot, you will receive an email (from the Mountaineers system) with registration instructions.  Please check your spam folder to make sure you don't miss this email!

If you are not in that first 120, you will be notified of your position on the Lottery waitlist.  We expect some of those initial offers to be declined, and we will continue to offer spots until the course is filled. 

Some Important Notes: 

• If you are offered a spot in the course, you are under no obligation to accept it!
• If you are offered a spot, you will have (at most) 5 days to pay, and complete your registration  as a participant in the CHS Course!
• If you want to apply for a scholarship for the CHS course, please do so as soon as possible (preferably in December or January); and
• If you change your mind about being in this lottery, you may cancel, but there will be  no refund.
