Sarver SIG Second day of the snow overnight field trip. Focus will be on Ice Axe Skills to include: Ice Axe Arrest, Glissading, Walking in Balance, Self-Belay and Crevasse Rescue in the snow if available. 

SIG leaders will  bring two glacier ropes and a picket

NOTE: there is a  separate overnight field trip on  April 15-16, 2023 that focus's on Snow Camping.

    • Multi-tool or Knife and repair kit
      • (Knife, duct tape, spare parts)

      • (Tarp, bivy sack, ingenuity)

    • Clothing (Wool or Synthetic)

    • Whistle 
      • For emergency signaling (three blasts).
  • Day pack for all your stuff
  • Gaiters Long, Waterproof (optional) 
  • Lunch + Snacks
  • Clothing appropriate for practicing self-arrest outdoors (i.e. rain pants and rain jacket), maybe older stuff that can get beat up.
    • Waterproof rain pants will make snow sliding a lot more comfortable. A vinyl pair or
      heavy foul weather gear will work okay for this trip, and is actually recommended over
      expensive Gore-Tex rain gear for the ice axe arrest practice sessions as it’s possible that
      you may cut or tear rain gear with your ice axe.
  • Dry Clothes for the drive home
    • Comfortable clean shoes and socks.
    • Water for drinking after your trip and for washing your hands and face.
    • Dry clothes so you’re not wet and stinky on the drive home—especially nice if you are
      carpooling.
    • Wet gear bag for muddy boots and wet clothes—especially if you are carpooling.
