Meet at 10 AM Saturday at the entrance booth to Ocean City State Park, reached from Tacoma by driving south on I-5, west on US 101, continuing west onto SR 8, again continuing west onto SR 12, west again onto SR 109 (signed to Ocean Shores), turning left at SR 115 (again signed to Ocean Shores) and right in a short distance into Ocean City State Park.

This is part of a weekend car camp at Ocean City State Park involving hiking around Damon Point on Saturday, camping Saturday night at Ocean City State Park and hiking in Griffith-Priday State Park on Sunday.  Everyone registered for this day hike must also register for the Griffith-Priday State Park day hike on Sunday September 8 and camp with the group at Ocean City State Park on Saturday night.  Leader permission is required to register to assure that this requirement is met.

At the Ocean City State Park entrance booth we will check in to claim the three adjacent reserved campsites, which we can then occupy if no one is camped there from the night before.  If we then have access to the campsites, we will set up camp, have a trail lunch and head to Damon Point, at the south end of the Ocean Shores Peninsula, where we will do a four mile loop hike.  After that we'll have some time to explore the sights of Ocean Shores before heading back to camp.  We'll have a camp dinner followed by smores around the campfire.  An evening walk to the beach to watch the sunset is an option, prior to smores.

See the Tacoma Branch calendar for a complete description of the car camp..
