Foothills Basic Instructor Review

  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)

Program Center 8am

This is the signup for the Foothills Branch Basic Climbing Course Instructor Review. If you're a new instructor, new intermediate student, feel like you need to brush up on your skills, or haven't attended in the last 3 years, this review is a requirement to help instruct. It's a good way to get back in the climbing mindset before the course starts.

We will be reviewing the follow items. The focus is two fold - are you competent with the skill, and how do you teach the skill

  • Lead Belaying - with and without device, right and left hand
  • Top Rope Belaying - with device, right and left hand
  • Rappelling - extended rappel using a double runner, basket hitched through your harness
  • Belay escape - going hands free and escaping they belay. No releasable knots
  • Crevasse Rescue - 3:1 Z pulley
