Kids Programs

Find activities and programs for your kids. We offer year round outdoor programs and summer camps for youth to try new activities and get outside!

Kids join our outdoor clubs to meet friends who love spending time outside, learn new outdoor skills, and develop leadership skills. Families have an opportunity to meet other families, and make lifelong friends through the outdoors.

New this year: youth break camps! Sign your kids up with us for a week of fun during mid-winter and spring breaks! 

Gateway programs

Typically single-day or half-day outdoor activities, Gateway Programs designed for youth and accompanying adults. Led by qualified Mountaineers staff or volunteer leaders, families register for each activity, which has a per-person fee to cover the program costs. Activities will range from hiking and camping to snowshoeing, rock climbing and kayaking. Activities are designed to give families a fun, low-stress outdoor adventure with other families, and are offered monthly. View and register!

Pioneers, Ages 7-9

This program is designed for families who are looking for a community of like-minded families to build outdoor skills together. Members commit to meeting monthly and going on at least one outdoor adventure a month. The cohort will be supported by Mountaineers staff, but parents will be expected to play an active role in planning and even leading some trips. Parents will have opportunities to advance their own outdoor skills as well as learn key skills for leading kids safely in the outdoors. This program will focus on skill-building for both youth and adults, and on building an outdoor community.  Learn More!

Explorers, ages 10-13

Youth ages 10-13 and their families meet monthly and enjoy a variety of outdoor pursuits, including hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, camping, rock climbing and kayaking. Members commit to meeting monthly and going on at least one outdoor adventure a month. The cohort will be supported by Mountaineers staff, but parents will be expected to play an active role in planning and even leading some trips. Parents will have opportunities to advance their own outdoor skills as well as learn key skills for leading kids safely in the outdoors. This program is designed to encourage outdoor adventure, teach safety and independence, and prepare kids who wish to graduate into Mountaineers Adventure Club. Find out more!

Mountaineers Summer Camp, ages 6-12

Youth ages 6-13 can join The Mountaineers for week-long, summer day camps. These adventure-based camps offer youth a chance to learn a variety of outdoor skills and spend time outside with new friends. Find out more!  

Kitsap Forest Adventure Camp, ages 5-10

The camp takes place on the beautiful Kitsap Property just beyond the Bremerton Ferry station. Campers ages 5-10 are welcome! There is a transportation option that includes ferry transport from Seattle for those interested in participating who do not live on the peninsula. Camp runs from 9:45am-2:45pm, but if you are coming from Seattle plan on dropping off your kid at 8am and picking up at 4pm. Learn more and register.

Summer Youth Kayak Program

Games and races are the perfect way to introduce kids to the exciting world of paddle sports. Paddling skills, water safety, and good seamanship are all covered, under the guise of pure fun! Our experienced instructors will teach basic strokes, how to get in and get out of the kayak safely, and what to do when you capsize.
