Our hikes are led year round by skilled and experienced Mountaineers whose goals are the safety and enjoyment of the whole team.  Hikes of  all difficulties are are available and we require the  10 essentials on all day hikes.

Explore classic Pacific Northwest waterfalls with geologist Lara Linde on a series of day hikes called Weekend Waterfalls.  Learn about what rocks make up the falls on these one of a kind trips that will run from January through April.

This year we are excited to offer two new courses in Tacoma.  Our Conditioning Hiking Series will open for registration 2/1/2020, and Geology Rocks! will open for registration 3/1/2020.

Trail Emergency Preparedness

We offer an evening Trail Emergency Preparedness Seminar for those interested in brushing up on basic first aid.

For more experienced participants, the Tacoma Branch offers challenging opportunities to develop skills in Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness Navigation, and Outdoor Leadership

Activities and Events

We offer quarterly events to give members time to socialize and meet new people.

Join us May 19th for Backcountry Cooking with Chef Corso.  Learn about upcoming events in the Tacoma Hiking & Backpacking Community then join us for a hands-on cooking workshop with Chef Corso.  Please RSVP HERE

Join us in August for our  annual Baker Lodge Retreat weekend. We have multiple hikes scheduled on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Hike during the day and relax in the evening at the lodge, getting to know fellow Mountaineers.  **Due to impacts from COVID-19, lodges are currently closed and we are unaware of when they will open back up.  We will update when we learn more information.**

In the summer we offer a variety of Car Camping opportunities.  We camp overnight in a campground and hike during the day in the surrounding area.  This is a great way to camp comfortably and enjoy the company of fellow Mountaineers.
