Seattle Branch Outdoor Leadership Seminar
COVID-19: Learn about our most up-to-date guidance for participants and leaders on our COVID-19 Response page. All participants and leaders must agree to the COVID-19 Code of Conduct before participating in this Mountaineers event.

This one-day leadership seminar, held at the Mountaineers’ Seattle Program Center, is for both current and prospective leaders of Mountaineers trips and activities. We’ll address problems from scenarios based on actual trips – the good, the bad, and the ugly.... These thought-provoking discussions are a mix of the participants’ own experiences, the scenarios, and John Graham's outstanding book "Outdoor Leadership". This event is not activity-specific. Snowshoers, skiiers, kayakers, hikers, climbers, sailors, scramblers, dancers, bikers, photographers are all encouraged to participate. The course fee includes breakfast, lunch and refreshments throughout the day. Please note: 1) Students are expected to obtain copies of "Outdoor Leadership" by John Graham on or before November 2, and have read Chapters 1 - 9 before class November 22. The Mountaineers Bookstore, Amazon (new, used, and digital), other online sources, and some libraries carry it. 2) No refunds will be given for cancellations after the registration deadline. 3) To fulfill a requirement for another course (Advanced Scrambles, Intermediate Climbing, or Sea Kayak.) requires participation the entire day.

Registration and a continental breakfast begin at 8:30. The seminar begins at 9:00.
