In this clinic you will learn basic and intermediate skills on navigating your kayak on the water to your destination.

The focus of the course is navigation for a day paddle.

We will meet briefly on Saturday night to go over navigation tools to use when you are on the water.

Sunday we will head to Alta Spit which is 7 minutes from Cornet Bay.  We will launch at Alta Spit and spend the day paddling to Hope Island, Skagit Island and Kliket Island practicing navigation techniques such as ranges, ferry angle, handrailing, chart reading and others.

Look up expected wind, current and tides for the day.

Bring a hiking compass and any other navigation tools you might use on a day trip. There is no need to spend money . We will provide a section of a chart that covers the area where we paddle.

Dress for immersion and the weather and bring a lunch.
