Lake Serene/Bridal Veil Falls trailhead

Follow Highway 2 east from Monroe to the small town of Gold Bar. Continue on Highway 2 for seven more miles. Just as the road curves left to reveal a large bridge over the Skykomish River, turn right onto Mount Index Road. Proceed on this dirt road a quarter mile. Turn right again, following the sign to Lake Serene Trail 1068 and the parking lot 500 feet ahead. I will wear a fluorescent green baseball hat with a headlamp on it, standing next to an old Saturn wagon.

Must display: National Forest Pass

COVID-19

Please remember to follow all of the required COVID protocols. You must have the required face covering (mask, neck gaiter, bandana) and hand sanitizer in your possession to participate in this hike. The face covering must be able to cover the mouth and nose when we pass close to others. Be prepared to step off the trail or turn outward when passing other hikers and maintain social distancing. Carpooling is limited to household members.

This is a very popular hike and glute burner. We will arrive early to get parking. Parking fills fast. We will be treated to beautiful views, two waterfalls going full bore, and if we are lucky, the sound of  avalanches at the lake.

It will be moist, if not wet. Probable snow up towards the lake. If you have traction devices feel free to bring them, though the reports say hikers don't need them so much right now. I like to have them just in case

Including Bridal Vail falls will bring the hike closer to 10 miles RT and 2400 ft elevation gain. Compare Gaia's at the end.

When I was at Serene late March, early April, the pit toilets at the trailhead were locked. Include a bathroom stop in your drive time planning.

We will be meeting at the trailhead @ 7:15 and on the trail @ 7:30.
