  • Mileage: 7.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,150 ft

Meet at the main Mount Si trailhead at 6:30 am.

This activity will run even if there are poor weather conditions (very high wind or straight up blizzard will cancel).

This is a fitness check; bring weight and test your time to the viewpoint.  For more info on this check and the kind of conditioning needed for climbs, check the Basic Handbook, Physical Conditioning section.

To pass the check, you will need to carry 25lb or 20% of your body weight (whichever is higher and no more than 50lbs), and get to the Mt Si boulders in under two hours.

This test is not a great indication of how you will do on a real climb; those tend to have more mileage, elevation, and weight.

  • The Ten Essentials
  • Microspikes
  • Pack weight to simulate your overnight glacier pack weight (WATER is a great option for this, so that you can remove the weight if you are struggling or for the descent).
