Rock II lecture prior to weekend field trip for Olympia Intermediate Climbing students. Lecture will cover escaping the belay, self rescue techniques. Rock I is a prerequisite for Rock II and must be taken in the same year including the lectures.
Prior lead climbing experience is now required to sign up for the the rock modules to ensure all participants have the foundational skills for the technical curriculum. Experience from local gyms (like holding a lead card), Mountaineers courses, or equivalent outside experience is required; please reach out to the module leader/contact or the Intermediate Committee if you have any questions about this requirement.
Climbing Self-Rescue: Essential Skills, Technical Tips & Improvised Solutions is used as a reference for this course.
We will be using Chris' climbing "warehouse" for this in the evening.
Start time is 6:00PM location will be provided via email prior to the lecture.
Required Equipment
Climbing harness, prusiks, locking carabiners. ONLY bring what you might actually carry on your climbing rack in the alpine. Would you bring 2 belay devices for example? Would you really have 12 locking carabiners?
