Rock Fundamentals Field Trip to Spire Rock at Sprinker Park in Spanaway, for practice in various rock climbing techniques, top rope belay, rappel, leader tie-off and escape of belay, rock pro placement & handling.

Car pool from Martin Way Park and Ride at 7:30am, meet up at Spire Rock at 8am for briefing and selection of teams.  Bring std rock gear including harness and helmet, lunch and weather-appropriate clothing.  Initial climbs will be practiced in mountaineering boots, rock shoes can be worn for later practice climbs.
