Chainsaw Safety Clinic - Meany Lodge

Come learn to safely operate a chainsaw. This is an introductory course which is open to all. Agenda: 1. Intro to BCHW tail gate safety talk for future wood cutting project sites and related forms. 2. We will present from the Forest Service training program and will issue to all students, our free class saw safety notebook and walk the class thru it during a 2-3 hr classroom session. We plan to focus on chainsaw safety, PPE and job site cutting plan. We plan to show a few safety videos. 3. We will take a 10 minute break between each class hour. Around 11:00 am, we'll plan a 1/2 hr break for lunch then walk out into the woods around Meany Lodge for the practical work in the woods.

An introductory course, open to all. 

To be awarded a Chainsaw Operator Certification badge, you must be 18 years or older and have an active First Aid / CPR card.

  • Gloves designed for sawing (leather or Kevlar)
  • Sturdy leather boots
  • A chainsaw
  • Chainsaw chaps that fit
  • A chainsaw helmet (with face shield and ear muffs)
  • Meany has some loaner gear available.
