Theater Camp at Kitsap Forest Theater offers a unique, outdoor experience where creativity comes to life in the heart of the forest. This camp aims to teach students basic skills that will help them excel in the theatrical world. They will learn audition technique, vocal skills, learn how to perform a script, and engage in imaginitave play theater games. Campers and instructors will work together to create performance pieces, and at the end of the week, campers will showcase their work in a fun, variety-show–style performance for friends and family.
The camp is led by Ila Faubion Dreessen, a local theater artist, voice teacher, and educator deeply rooted at Kitsap Forest Theater and in the theater community in the Greater Seattle Area. Ila is an experienced musical theater performer and music director, and the owner of Singing with Ila, where she works with voice students of all ages and experience levels. With a background in both performance and pedagogy, Ila brings a playful, encouraging approach to teaching that emphasizes curiosity, collaboration, and confidence-building. You may have seen her on stage in any number of shows at the Kitsap Forest Theater, and she is so excited to share her love of the arts and her love of the outdoors with campers.
Theater camp provides young performers an opportunity to connect with peers, take creative risks, and experience the joy of storytelling in a supportive, nature-filled setting. Campers will leave with new tools as actors and singers, learn to collaborate on creative projects, and create lasting memories from a week spent creating theater together in the woods.
Each camper will receive a complimentary ticket to a performance of Oliver! and Miss Holmes. Tickets will be good for any remaining performance of Oliver! and all performances of Miss Holmes.
