The Kitsap Climbing Self-Rescue I module teaches small party (2+ rope teams) self-rescue. This classroom session will present and develop individual and group skills fundamental to self-rescue on rock, glaciers, and ice.

The Kitsap Climbing Self-Rescue I module teaches small party (2+ rope teams) self-rescue. This classroom session will present and develop individual and group skills fundamental to self-rescue on rock, glaciers, and ice and present theory related to mechanical advantage and anchor forces.
The following topics/activities will be covered:
- Construction of a Purcell prusik
- Practice ascending a rope and converting to rappel
- Entering a Baseline condition
- Lowering a follower from above
- Review of concepts and systems presented in both Self-Rescue I Classroom Sessions
Session will run from 6pm-9pm.
Required Equipment
Standard rock climbing equipment including:
- Harness
- Helmet
- 6-8 locking carabiners
- 4-6 non-locking carabiners
- 4-6 alpine draws
- Cordelette
- Progress Capture Pulley (Optional)
- Lightweight Ascender (Optional)
Bring the gear you would have on your harness and we will apply it to the problems. You rescue with what you have on your harness.
