Practice and refine climbing self-rescue techniques for an injured follower or leader who is unresponsive and unable to be lowered while in high angle, multi-pitch terrain.

This session will focus refining skills learned during Classroom Session 1 for rescuing an injured follower who is unresponsive and unable to be lowered to include the conduct of both counterbalanced and tandem rappels with weighted transitions at the anchor.
Methods for rescuing an injured leader who is unresponsive and unable to be lowered to include ascending the rope will be introduced.
Methods for self-extraction using an improvised litter will be introduced and practiced.
Please arrive at the Kitsap Program Center in time to have your gear on so that we can start promptly at 6pm. Instruction will end by 9pm with possible opportunity for extra practice afterwards.

instructors will earn:
Required Equipment
Standard rock climbing equipment including:
- Harness
- Helmet
- 6-8 locking carabiners
- 4-6 non-locking carabiners
- 4-6 alpine draws (can employ non-locking carabiners listed above)
- Belay Device
- Gear adequate for establishing an extended rappel
- Cordelette
- Cordage adequate for constructing a Load Releasing Hitch
- Progress Capture Pulley (Optional)
- Lightweight Ascender (Optional)
Bring the gear you would have on your harness and we will apply it to the problems. You rescue with what you have on your harness.
