Learn to plan your trip and navigate using the latest digital tools in this series of interactive webinars. Webinars will be on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8 pm and are recorded for later review.

The internet, smart phones and GPS have transformed the way we plan trips and navigate. This course is aimed to teach both new and experienced navigators how to plan your trip and navigate using the latest digital tools available.

ONLINE ONLY

This course is delivered as a series of online webinars. You will need access to a desktop computer with high-speed internet. Webinar dates will be scheduled to maximize the ability of students to participate live, but all webinars will be recorded and made available to students for review or in case they just missed a session.

For the GaiaGPS webinar, you will need a smartphone and the latest version of GaiaGPS for iPhone or Android.

You Will Learn:

  • The importance of trip planning and the tools to create one.
  • How to research your trip and make a digital trip plan for you and your group.
  • Digital tools, their advantages and disadvantages.
  • How to plan your trip using a variety of internet sources.
  • How to use Caltopo and the advanced features it offers to plan your trip and create a map.
  • How to use GaiaGPS to create, import and navigate your route.
