This lecture is the second of two required for graduation from the B3 course, introducing basic skills and gear important to comfort and safety during a backpack trip. WE WILL CONDUCT THIS SESSION VIA AN INTERACTIVE ZOOM VIDEO CONFERENCE .

  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)

The program starts at 6:30PM sharp and ends at 9PM.   The best engagement in the session will come if you can join on a laptop or desktop computer with a working camera and microphone, so that you can see the presentation and participate in breakout sessions with your mentor group.   You would also be able to see the presentation and participate in breakout sessions from your smartphone if you install login through the zoom app.  

Please contact the session leader if you do not have access to a laptop, desktop or smartphone to participate in the session.

This lecture covers backpack food planning, prep and storage;  hydration and water treatment; choosing your sleep system (tent, pad, sleeping bag);  choosing and packing your pack;  getting in shape for the trail;  gearing up without breaking the bank; and more!
