This session will be offered from 6:30 to 9PM on Zoom.  You will receive a link the week before to register for the session with zoom so that you can be assigned to your mentor group for breakout sessions during the lecture.

This lecture starts with an overview of the B3 course philosophy and core components;  then we help students evaluate what their core objectives are for backpacking and how those objectives  balance comfort at camp with comfort on the trail.  We then review how to pack based on the type of trip and expected conditions including how to develop a packing checklist.  Then over the remainder of the session we'll review the basics of clothing and footwear selection for backpacking, socks and foot care, hydration, water purification, your cook system, food and food preparation.
