0700 Alpental Lower Lot
Day 1 consists of hands on snow anchor, belaying, and emergency shelter construction. Day 2 is a tour of Alpental valley or nearby peak. This trip will run pending weather, snowpack, and avalanche conditions. The following weekend (28-29) is a backup weekend for this trip
Avalanche Rescue
- Review of probing
- Review of digging
- Multiple burial scenarios
Anchors
- Learn and practice traditional snow anchors, like vertical pickets, mid clip pickets, and t--slot pickets
- Review of bollards
- Learn/practice using non traditional anchors, like skis, backpacks, water bottles, etc
Belaying
- Learn/practice methods of belaying a follower, including butt-axe belay, stomper belays
Snow Shelters
- Practice building overnight snow shelters
