Periodic meeting of the Everett Sea Kayaking program members. Attend to get updates on program activities and courses and to participate in planning and development of same. Meetings may include a 15 to 45 minute training session on a topic relating to sea kayaking.

In service training topic: Take 2 - Doing More with DeepZoom, tides, currents, and beyond. 15-20 minutes. A live demonstration of DeepZoom features; going beyond its famous interactive currents and tides to explore the trip planning features, wind and weather forecasts, and Coast Pilot integration.

Updates from the Everett Mountaineers Branch Executive Committee Meeting (Doug P).

Updating the EMSK activity committee charter (continue from last meeting). Update on acquisition of one Garmin InReach Mini 2 for use by trip leaders (followup to minutes from January 19)

2023 Trip leader/instructor training opportunities. Time allowed for Dan Hale to give updates on this.

2023 Trip leader candidates/volunteers. This is a standing item about expanding our trip leader corp. Thanks to Cathie Frizalone for stepping up to become a trip leader! Bill Coady is helping Cathie work through the process. 2023 Equivalency events - Ongoing discussion to organize special equivalency events for small groups of experienced sea kayakers looking to participate in Mountaineers paddles. Anyone interested in helping out with this please contact Rob King.

New trip plans. A standing item to allow trip leaders a chance to talk about their upcoming plans and to discuss ideas for new trips.

New clinic or other training plans, including in meeting training sessions. A standing item for discussion.

Discussion on setting a date for committee elections to select officers.

  • Baker Lake Shindig July 7-9, 2023.  Everett Mountaineers Sea Kayak Baker Lake Shindig — The Mountaineers
  • April EMSK meeting Training topic: Jim West returns in April to present VHF Radio Communications and Training - Learn it for the first time or relearn it as a refresher! The focus will be on handheld devices like we use in sea kayaking. Jim will cover the best and proper way to communicate on a VHF Radio.
