Sport Climbing Course - Everett - 2016

This course is full for the 2016 season. We had far more qualified applications than spots available in the course, by 4 to 1. Please check out similar offerings via other branches (Seattle, Tacoma, etc.) or apply next season! 

This course introduces the fundamental skills necessary to lead climb single pitch routes protected by bolts. A successful applicant will have already mastered top rope belay technique and by able to top-rope at least a gym 5.9 with clean style. Priority enrollment is given to Everett Basic Climbing Course graduates or current students.

The following skills will be covered.

  • Lead belay technique, dynamic belay
  • Lead climb essentials, clipping, rope management
  • Climber / Belayer communication
  • Sport Anchor systems and top-rope rigging
  • Route cleaning, rappelling
  • Strength training and general fitness

This course has no scheduled activities.

Roster
Required Equipment

Helmet, harness, rock shoes, quick-draws (6-10), personal anchor (PA), cordellette, 4 - 6 locking carabiners, belay device, belay gloves, Gri-Gri (optional), 2 - 4 non-locking carabiners, light assortment of sewn and/or tied runners.   

Do not buy gear you don't own yet in advance of the course. We will cover it in the first lecture.
