This course is designed for climbers who are ready to step into sustained alpine ice terrain and want to refine their movement, judgment, and protection skills on moderate to steep ice. It emphasizes safe travel, thoughtful route choices, and steady decision-making in dynamic mountain environments.
Enrollment requires that applicants already hold the appropriate prerequisite badges. Completion of a multipitch trad climbing course is mandatory before applying. Please make sure these requirements are met before submitting your application.

The course includes one online lecture session and a mandatory two-day field component.

This course aims to strengthen both the technical and mental aspects of climbing alpine ice, helping participants develop skill, awareness, and judgment that will support independent climbing in the mountains.

- 12 point crampons
- Ice tool, a matched pair is nice to have, but you can get by with a single tool
- 3 or 4 Ice screws (at least one 22 cm for making v-threads)
- 1 Cordelette
- 2 9/16" Tubular webbing slings- un-sewn.
- 4 Sewn Alpine Draws- 2 single, 2 double
