Urban Adventure - Govan Schoolhouse

Go to  the State Park website to make your reservation. I'm in section C, site #109.

9:00am - depart Green Lake Park & Ride near 65th St. (north parking lot).

Approximately 10:30am - depart Indian John Hill Park & Ride near Cle Elum (for those coming from the eastside or south and wish to meet us there).

If you need a ride, be sure to contact somebody on the roster and make arrangements. Since this a car camp trip (1 night), there's not always room for additional tents/gear.

You can sleep in your car/van or bring a tent, sleeping bag, etc. If you don't have gear, it's up to you to borrow some, not the trip leader.

Please view the route and print out directions (or program your GPS). It's very hard to caravan with multiple vehicles on busy highways. If you have the route and the schedule, you can at least meet us if you get separated.

Please read the schedule to avoid confusion about locations/times and so you know what to expect. Except for the Govan Schoolhouse, other stops are meant to break up the long drive. If you like a stop, make a note of the location so you may visit it at another time.

• We will caravan from the Green Lake Park & Ride to I-90 and head east, stopping at the Indian John Hill Park & Ride for a pit stop and to meet up with others in the group.
• Next, we'll stop at the Rygrass Safety Rest Area to photograph the wind turbines (20 minutes).
• Our next stop is on the east side of the Columbia River bridge at Vantage to photograph the Wild Horse Monument (45 minutes).
• We'll stop in George at Shree's Truck Stop for lunch (1 hour).
• After lunch, we'll head to Dry Falls to take photos and spend about 30 minutes before driving down into the canyon to set up camp at Sun Lakes Dry Falls State Park.
   
• After setting up camp, we'll drive to Govan and spend about an hour photographing the old schoolhouse.
• Back at camp, we'll pool our resources and have a potluck dinner.
• Optional: After dinner, drive back to Govan to take dusk/night photos of the schoolhouse. We'll have a waxing gibbous (3/4) moon that evening.
• On Day 2, we'll each have breakfast on our own at camp, departing around 9am to drive to Leavenworth.
• We'll spend two hours in Leavenworth to photograph the Bavarian-looking town and have lunch before heading back home.
