Day Hike - Bainbridge Island Beaches & Interior

The Bloedel Reserve - Take a leisurely stroll through the many gardens, identifying and/or photographing the various plants, flowers and trees.

  • Easy/Moderate
  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)
  • Mileage: 10.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 500 ft

Meet roughly at 10:30 at the parking lot near the gatehouse (where you pay to enter the gardens) at the Bloedel Reserve. Time is dependent on how long it takes to get from the ferry dock to the reserve.

Note: Take the 9:35 am ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island

After we meet up, we'll decide which garden to explore first (click here for details about each). We'll be on a leisurely pace so that we can photograph the various plants, trees and flowers. Those who just want to enjoy the garden and try and identify the  vegetation may do so....our pace should be about the same.

Expect to spend two hours at the reserve. No food is allowed to be taken into the reserve. Only bottles of water. So, those wishing to have lunch together afterwards should consider one of the restaurants close to the ferry dock.

Photographers are permitted to use folding tripod stands or monopod stands that can fit inside a standard backpack. Please use caution when using and do not block trails or damage plants or landscaping.
