A virtual Beta & Brews on several Basic Climbs. Our presenters are Manisha Powar on Spickard and Redoubt; Skye Stoury and Garrett Arnold on Kangaroo Temple; Paul Brown and Ben Chapman on Tatoosh Mini-Traverse (Unicorn, Foss, Castle, Pinnacle); Craig Taylor and Kelli Taylor on Ruth and Icy. Backpackers' Pajama Party: Backpack the Spider Gap - Image Lake - Buck Creek - High Pass- Napeequa- Little Giant loop with Daniel Zilcsak
Put on your most comfy zoom pants and slippers, grab a favorite beverage and some popcorn, and join your fellow backpackers in this seventh virtual tour in our 2021 Pajama Party series, featuring Dan Zilcsak on a classic backpacking loop on the east side of Glacier Peak, including Spider Gap, Lyman and Image Lakes, Buck Creek Pass, High Pass, the Napeequa valley and Little Giant Pass. The event is free and open to the public but you must get a ticket at the link below and then we will email you the zoom link to join.
Virtual! Meet The Mountaineers Info Session - Apr 26
Join us for a virtual Meet The Mountaineers. The evening consists of a facilitated online meet and greet and a 90-minute interactive presentation giving you opportunities to meet your fellow Mountaineers, learn about our history and how you can get involved, and get a quick overview of our website to find opportunities to jump in and get outside. We'll end with a Q&A. You do not need to be a member to attend. All are welcome. Come and bring friends. The session starts at 6:30pm and will run until 8pm. Registration closes at 4pm on the day of the event, and zoom conference call information will be sent to all RSVP'd attendees after 4pm.
Climate Change Speaker Series: The Big Thaw
Mountaineers Books and Braided River author Eric Scigliano will take us to some of Earth’s northernmost wild places and share the role of thawing permafrost in the climate crisis. The author of The Big Thaw, a 2020 Washington State Book Award winner, will discuss how quickly the permafrost is thawing, what its impact will be, and how a new generation of scientists can imagine innovative solutions to global problems. This is the second event in our Climate Change Speaker Series.
