Refuge Outdoor Festival is a 3-day camping experience geared toward people of color. Introduced in 2018, Refuge is "centered on building community through outdoor recreation, conversations (community talks, workshops), music, and art that appeal to a diverse and inclusive audience." The Mountaineers signed on as a sponsor of Refuge because we know affinity spaces are important places to build connections with each other and the outdoors, and we'd like to invite you to participate in this year's festival on behalf of The Mountaineers.
We believe a diverse and inclusive outdoors inspires unity, respect, and passion for the places we love, and it's important that we use our resources to support and amplify experiences like these. We're excited to offer support for Refuge again this year, and are looking for two members who would like to participate in this experience.
ATTEND ON BEHALF OF THE MOUNTAINEERS
The Refuge Outdoor Festival will take place from September 27-29, 2019, at Tolt-MacDonald Park & Campground in Carnation, WA. We have two passes for our members, and we invite you to apply for one of these spots, attend on behalf of The Mountaineers, and have an excellent time! If you'd like, we'd love for you to share what you experienced and learn with our community. Read about three days at Refuge from one of last year's attendees.
If you're interested, please complete an online application no later than September 1, 2019 to receive full consideration. A subset of members from the Equity & Inclusion Committee will make the final selections by Wednesday, September 4. Alternatively, all members are invited to register today, at their own expense.
Please note: Mountaineers representatives will receive an adult festival pass and a field camping pass ($130 value), but must arrange for their own travel to and from Carnation.
