Executive Director Martinique Grigg to leave August 13

Serving as executive director of the Mountaineers for nearly six years has been the high point of my professional career.  I’m pleased we have achieved so much: financial sustainability, significant programmatic advancement, and growth in every part of the organization.

However, it’s now time for me to explore my next professional opportunity, and August 13 will be my last day. I am planning to take a few months off with my family to recharge before determining where I will go next.

I’m proud to leave behind a solid, dynamic, growing organization that has become a recognized leader in outdoor recreation and conservation. The Mountaineers is well positioned to welcome its new leader to continue its strong trajectory.

The future of The Mountaineers is bright and I will always regard my time with the organization as fulfilling and rewarding. You have each taught me a great deal about dedication, service and the meaning of community. I am honored to have had the opportunity to lead this great organization and I can’t wait to see what happens in its next chapter.

Over the next two months I’ll be focused on ensuring a smooth transition. An interim director will be named later this summer, and the executive committee is currently assembling a search committee to recruit and hire a successor. Read more about the succession plans here.

Once again, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to each of you―whether you are a member, volunteer, donor or community partner. I’m grateful to have all of you as colleagues and friends.

INVITATION: The Mountaineers invites you to join us for a special event on August 11 to celebrate Martinique's achievements. Please register here.
