Augst 19, 2015 - Yellow Aster Butte
We were a party of 5. Met at Sunset Square in Bellingham at 6:30. Last 4.2 miles to TH have deep potholes. Started hiking at 9:00. Only a few other hikers today. Almost no smoke, no snow or bugs and few flowers. Surprisingly green despite the drought. Temps were perfect above the forest with a cool breeze. Excellent views today. Summit block was shattered. Looks like it has been blasted since last year. Lightning? A mellow scramble with long breaks on false (hiker's) summit. Stats were: 8 hours, 8 miles and 3,240" gross elev.
