Winter Scramble - Red Mountain (Salmon La Sac)

Snow was in excellent condition and very consolidated.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles

  • Parked at the junction of FS46 and Salmon La Sac Rd, didn't use passes but there were signs for sno-park passes. Route follows the steep ridge and has low avy danger.

We headed up the north ridge up steep terrain. At 4800 feet the weather was deteriorating into blizzard conditions so we made the call to turn back. Route-finding is very straight forward.
